CHAIR  FRENCH  announced  the  consideration of  HB  6,  "An  Act                                                               
authorizing the  governor to  remove or suspend  a member  of the                                                               
Board of Regents of the University  of Alaska for good cause; and                                                               
establishing  a procedure  for  the removal  or  suspension of  a                                                               
regent."  He  noted that  Legislative  Legal  issued opinions  in                                                               
response to  Senator Coghill's  question about  the retrospective                                                               
aspects of  the bill, and he  was right. There was  no reason for                                                               
the bill to be retrospective.

SENATOR COGHILL moved Amendment 1,  which would delete Section 4,                                                               
located on page 6, lines 18-21.                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
CHAIR  FRENCH  announced  that  without  objection,  Amendment  1                                                               
passed. Finding no further questions  or discussion, he solicited
